I have used my 92 W-250 for daily driving for the last 7 years and the last 2 or 3 I have gone to a few Truck Pulls with it. It has worked pretty good but

I am going to use it in a weekly pulling series here in Pa and its going to need more power. I already have Lucas POD injectors installed the fuel screw turned in and pump timing advanced and a 12cm non-wastegated exhaust housing on the stock H1C turbo. I want to stay with the VE Pump simply because I see some of you guys are around 4-500 Hp mark thats where I'd like to be.

I've copy/pasted from another site, from a very knowledgeable man on 1st gens. This is his answer to a similar question:

KTA-Cummins

1. Traction Bars

2. Huge injectors

3. Bigger Lift Pump

4. Turn full fuel to max, install gov spring and cut off high idle screw, set aneroid cone to full.

5. HX40 or B1 sized turbo

6. Put in either a stick or a later model auto with lockup either way you will need a good clutch or a built auto.

7. Now you have hooked it and destroyed the Dana 70 rear so upgrade to an 80 and bigger driveshafts.

You should be able to put 360-400rwhp down with that setup and with those upgrades i think most of the drivetrain will withstand it.

Bgilbert I see in your profile it says you have a 14mm pump, is this something that anyone can buy if so I'd like some info on it.

Also what is involved in putting a lock-up convertor in the first gen trucks, my transmission was just rebuilt, the guy that does my transmissions said it is basically a 48re without a lock-up convertor.

?????????

You must have a lot of money to blow. from what you described you have already done I think that you will have no problem ripping out the driveline and melting down the engine... Hearing the impeller blow to pieces in the turbo is very exciting not to mention the clank you hear when the ring lands melt off of the pistons! A few more turns of the magic screw on the ve pump should make it blow apart like a hand grenade as well... . But have no fear. there is nothing that you can destroy that can't be fixed with a whole lot of time and money!

I never will understand some of you guys out there. The first gen trucks were really great trucks just as the engineers designed them..... There will never be any more of them built again ever! Do you want to finish off the few that are left .....

If I would have followed this logic, my truck would have burnt to the ground, because of the great electrical system just as the "engineers designed them". I don't want to pick at you; but that was the mind set that allowed the Japanese with their "continuous improvement" to rip the big three a new one.

Rant over. :D

To each his own my friend. There are a lot of us out here that DO understand why! :) BTW, how many posts have you seen that describe the type of damage you are claiming will happen?

:-laf ;) ... . this is why I try to keep from drinking TOO much coffee... .

To be honest though... . I think there are a few of us out here who know the down side and just want to have some fun... personally, I KNOW there is a price to be paid... . now, were'd I leave the missus' check book... ... STAN !!!! GIVE IT BACK YOU WANgKER... :-laf ;)

pb...

edit: OH BTW, Stan, how'd you like it if I could find you about 80-100 more RWHP... ????... before the big head pump parts that is... :D:D... . nope not gonna tell ya how either...

Darn, caught again! :) I didn't think anyone would notice or think about where the money came from for the mods. :-laf (at least you didn't threaten me with the big stick!)

Still fighting with the other problem Pastor. And to add to that, I filled up with bio diesel the other day and the truck is running like crap and smoking like a burger king smokestack. Smells like a mobile french fry factory as well! No more bio is what the truck is telling me. Been driving the crap outta it trying to burn the bad fuel. I spent a lot of money on the old girl and I guess she is telling me I need to feed her better :D

Got your email today, will answer tomorrow. I'll probably wait to bring that "other " part back up until the first gen get together.
