Hey Guys -

Any expeince out there with replacing engine and transmission mounts? I've done it on gas-engined vehicles before - is it just more of the same, only a lot heavier motor? Or is there anything specific I need to know? If any of you've done this before I'd appreciate your input.

What about mounts - Dodge dealer or aftermarket?

Thanks in advance for any input!

Mike

(PS: I took a quick pass through 'search forums' but didn't see anything answering this specific question. Hard to believe we haven't covered this topic yet!!! Maybe I just missed it!! :) :) )

Howdy,

Yeah, there is not much covering this topic. I just bought some transmission mounts from NAPA, I was shocked by how much they cost. I think they were 12. 99 apiece:eek: And you need 4- Upper L/R, and Lower L/R. All that for some pieces of rubber and two steel bushings.

If you'll wait till to tomorrow night, I can tell you about installing them, when I get my transmission back in(if there are no holdups).

Thanks Steve! Looking forward to your reply.

Just an FYI - when I was doing the forum search I came across a place called Rockauto.com. I looked 'em up and they seem to have pretty good prices - I think they we around $6. 50-$7. 00 for each of the rear transmission mounts, and around $16 each for the motor mount, while the dealer quoted me $25 each for the motor mounts.

I might give them a try (for jobs where I don't need parts right now! Like motor/transmission mounts!)

O. K. Here is how I did it, not sure if it is exactly right.

In order from top to bottom

Washer

Small rubber doughnut

plate on transmission

Large rubber mount w/steel sleeve

crossmember

washer

Then with the bolt/nut through all that. tomorrow I will get a picture if that will help.

Hope this helps some
