My son just purchased a '91 Dodge Cummins with 191,000 miles on it. Looks to be in excellent shape and runs well except it has a engine vibrartion a little higher than idle speed in or out of gear. Any ideas?

Disregarding the above problem I would appreciate any input concerning this model as far as maintenance, upgrades, etc.

It appears to be 100% stock. We don't know the previous owner, we purchased this from a used car dealer.

Thanks for the reply. The pump handle on the transfer pump seems to be not under pressure and I'm concerned about this when I change the fuel filter. My '97 has pressure throughout its full stroke so maybe there is problems with the transfer pump.

97 Club Cab 4 X 4, K&N, no muffler, up the star wheel, synthetics throughout.

I wouldn't be worried about no pressure right away. Sometimes just need to rotate engine alittle with 1st gen. to get a good prime.

I'm with mark on that. I had to rotate mine quite a bit before the thing worked. It took a while to 'drop off a lobe' so the pump would cycle properly.

Also I'd suspect a dirty injector too. The slight roughness is a good indication of a diry nozzle, or a bit of contamination in the system.

Pull the nozzles, get em tested/set. Bleed the fuel system, replace the fuel filter, run some additive through it and see how it goes.

Once you got it running nice and smooth then think about your upgrades, with gauges being the FIRST thing on your agenda.

Let us know how you make out.

Regards, Bob.
