Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Engine will not crank.

I need some help please. Just got a 1998 ram 2500 12 valve 5 speed 4x4 quad cab short box bone stock with 120,000 miles on it and when I turn the key to start it I get nothing. power is all there but it wont even try to crank. I can pull start it but can't start it with the ignition. Any ideas on where to go?

Go to the troubleshooting page on Geno's garage website or Foster truck and see the Larry B's info on troubleshooting. The starting circuit is super easy.

Maybe a clutch safty switch problem also ? did you push in clutch when you tried to start it ?

Found that the old owner had replaced started with a reman. I found that when I try to start it it blows the 20amp engine control fuse under the hood. Also found that the starter turns over when I go from the power side of battery to small wire on starter.Still no further than I was thou. And I have the clutch pedal to the floor when triing to start it.

If the starter turns over when applying 12 volts direct then your solenoid must be shorted out or ground somewhere. Genos carries a rebuild kit for under 30 bucks.

The stud that goes to the little wire moves in and out could that cause it to short out?

Yes that would it cause it to short. You need to pull starter take the cover off solenoid and tighten it back up (check for ware on the contacts. If they are worn replace with LarryB's. www.fostertruck.com
