Just looking for a little guidence... Recently driving home the truck shut down completely. (almost got hit in rush hour traffic 10 times while waiting for the tow truck) Needless to say when i got the truck to the mechanic the report was no power to the FASS pump. I changed the relay inline in hopes of a quick easy fix to no avail. The fuse inline was also good... . a little stumped but still in the process of troubleshooting... Just wondering In the last issue of TDR i recieved there was a repair to what sounded to be a similar issue. I left the article with my mechanic for reference. . but It was a similar issue having to do with a signal sent from the ECM stopping voltage to the lift pump. And in turn jumping out from the ECM to give constant power to the FASS pump. From what the mechanic said he did try this fix as well and still no power to the pump. Just wondering if anyone has anymore ideas???

Thanks

George

2001 2500 FASS 95 Pump

George,

From your post I can't be sure what your mechanic has done or verified, but I can offer these observations:

In the stock configuration, the ECM provides power directly to the lift pump. It's not just a signal coming from the ECM, it's a power feed with no fuse or relay in between. Occasionally this power supply coming from the ECM fails. The only solution is to replace or repair the ECM, or to find some completely different way to power the lift pump. This is what the article in the TDR magazine talked about... using a different method to energize the lift pump circuit.

I realize that the aftermarket FASS wiring harness does usesa fuse and relay, but since you've ruled those out as being potential problems, we can ignore them.

Since you say your mechanic tried to power the lift pump circuit using an alternate method but was unsuccessful, either he didn't do it correctly or the ECM is dead.

Questions:

Has your mechanic checked for DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)? If so, please list all of them (just the codes... we don't need the descriptions).

Has your mechanic verified the ECM is receiving power and is turning on?

Best regards,

John L.

I will ask him and get back to you. If the ECM is dead what other things wouldn't work?

As for the crank position sensor i will check that as well.

Thanks for your time fellas. Its much appreciated from a rookie like myself. Just trying to get the truck back on the road.

Crank position sensor checked out ok... ECM is good and the Fix for the voltage for the FASS pump did work. The only code given was P0230 probably from the installation of the FASS pump. Good fuel pressure to the injector pump.

Day of Reckoning all things lead to the injector pump. YUK! Anyone think its not the injector pump? If my worst fear has come true whats the best place to get the part?

Thanks.
