Definitely agree with a trickle charger when not in use. I’m a big fan of NOCO.

Doesn’t matter where you hook into the 12V system, but it is recommended to not put the neg between the IBS and the battery.

If you don't mind me asking what and where is the IBS that you are referring to?

On the negative terminal of the drivers side battery. It has a 2 wire plug on it.
