Need help, on monday I took a short trip to Buda,Tx approx 70 miles, most of the road is two lane. I was in the prosses of passing another vehicle and half way through the pass,it felt like the engine started to miss fire, my speed deminished alittle then picked back up again,at this point in time time I was doing about 70 mph. This is the first time I noticed this ever happening in all the times I have passed other vehicles since new. Does anyone have any solid ideas on what might have happened to cause this situation? Thanks in advance.

It has happened to me, it was the fuel filter getting clogged, would only act up while towing and really gettin on it, just kinda missed and slowed down. Changed filter, no more problem. bg

Sad but true,a police officer friend of mine had someone (probably a trustee)put grapes in his fuel tank while at work. It ran fine most of the time, then it would die. After restarting it was fine for a while. Locking gas caps are at least some piece of mind. $. 02 worth.

Since this happened to me I've even pulled the tank module and drained the tank, clean as can be. Something else is going on here and even though my truck hasn't done it for quite some time I don't trust it as much as I'd like. Fuel pressure stays steady at 22 psi. I still keep thinking that it was low quality Texaco fuel that somehow caused injector plungers to stick. I guess just wait and see if it does it again, but in the mean time no more Texaco for me.

It also happened to me once for the first time after 120k miles,my filter had less than 1k on it and prefilter was cleaned at the same time so I'm sure that wasn't the problem. Did it twice, first time the engine actually died but started back up and ran fine. Both times on steep hills. 5k now with no problems. It also happened to be one of the few times that I was running Texaco fuel. If you figure it out let me know.
