I'm planning in putting Stage 3 injectors and my mechanic says to replace the stock turbo with a Super B. I agree, but want to know if I upgrade the housing of my stock turbo to a 16 NWG housing will that housing keep my egt's down. My mechanic says it would be close, what do you think? I tow a 10k fiver.

Thanks,

Jim

Towed a 29' fw with DDP stage III's and the stock turbo. cruising in od with an outside temp of 75deg egt's were around 900. my htb2 62/14 runs hotter! thinkin about going back to a 12cm or upgade the intercooler

Another option is to upgrade to a hybrid. That's what I run on mine with a 16cm housing. I also use a valet switch. I can tow about anything with this setup, and not have to worry about my EGT's. Or, I can turn the power up when I want. :D I put together my hybrid with parts from here.

Jim,

nothing high altitude with the old exhaust setup pulling a trailer. 6% grade at 50-55 i would maintain it at 1100*(guessing 1250* if i was at 5000ft elevation). i could easily climb past that if i wanted. and that was with the stock exhaust with cat removed and a flowmaster muffler. definitely a power increase with stage III's and 191dv's.

Jim,

the best i did was 19 on the highway unloaded and about 11-12 with the trailer. didnt really notice a difference in mileage unless of course i hot rodded around with it.

Brian,

Thanks for the info. . I think I'll try the Stage 3's with my stock turbo, if needed I can always upgrade and maybe I can save myself some money. Is your timing stock?

Jim

Jim,

I think you'll be happy with them, i know i was. my truck ran smoother at idle. like you said you can always upgrade the turbo later. you'll probably run cooler since you have the ats manifold and 4" exhaust. you'll have a big :D on your face after the first test drive!! just keep an eye on the boost gauge!

yes my timing is stock
