Wishing to take out the 47RE and converting to the NV4500HD or NV5600(if I can find one). Please be honest and let me know if it is too much or not possible. If this is possible one inch, we are doing it. Up here in Ontario, many transmission mecs are telling me I am nuts. Sick of the 47RE, want the stick. Has any TDR members done this in the past or know anyone who has, but the conversion looks good and original. We are not butchering this work order. Much thanks... .

Try calling Heath at Hot Rod Diesel Your Diesel Performance Source 705-439-3298. I know he has done this swap a few times and I bet the Diesel Doctors in Georgetown have as well.

Robert Schwarzli (our Ont. Chapter President) -- email address removed -- may have a line on parts he has done a similar swap into to his 1st gen.

There is a member here wanting to swap out his manual for an auto. Another thread in this same section. You two should meet.

just did my 02,bought a wrecked 6spd,nice that way you have all the brackets, etc. . I know a lot of people with 5 and 6 speeds and the people with the 5 speeds say there is to much distance between 4th and 5th if your towing,4th is to low and 5th is to high if you live in the mountains like we do.

Thanks for the reply Bryan. You went from the 47RE to the NV5600, that is great news.

I am looking forward to my swap now. Transmission wise I feel confident, were there any issues with the small stuff on your conversion, computer, reflashing?, sensors,etc... Again, thankyou for the reply. Douglas
