Erratic cruise control with modified trucks

I was looking into getting cruise for my old Dodge as the parts were posted back in April on how to just plug and play. I emailed Kyle with the question on how well it works with a modified truck as I had heard the 2nd Gen guys complaining about it being erratic with power mods. He has a surging problelm. Do any of you have these problems or a solution to this problem.

HI GUY,

i HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY CRUISE CONTROL FOR ABOUT THREE YEARS. One time it will dop out of ccontrol for a few seconds and the next time it will drop out permantely. It has also been known to arbitrarly engage in slow traffic. Now that will get your attention. I you find out whats wrong let me know.

Surging

My 93 surges so bad I can not use the cruse at all. My turbo bust is real jumpy at highway speed. It did not start till I changed turbos. Any help with this gratly needed.

Sorry, I guess that I'm the only one whose cruise works fine after the fact. I used it a lot this weekend, this was the first time that it was used after the 'Ol Blue Special install. No I take that back, this weekend wasn't the first time, but I know that it worked fine when I did try it the first time. Best of luck!

cruse control

check the engage switch on the steering wheel. it is a normaly closed and opens to engage. if it is dirty it may stay open and will never engage. It also will drop out or engage without reason. A replacement set lists for $80+ or wholesales for about $60

lots of cruise problems also

Since about day one WITH OUT truck mods my cruise won't always shut down when I need it to, it also has lost cruise and the only way to come back up is to shut off and restart the truck. what I did was talk to cummins about the problems and had service mgr talk to cummins about issuses and cruise, finally went to dealer took new truck and service mgr with me and couldn't get new truck to act up like mine,then took service mgr in mine and it did act up. My appt for repair is next monday, for the 4th or 5th time

Matt, for what it's worth, my own modifications to date have had no effect whatsoever on my cruise control, which works perfectly. More details in the sigfile below. Good luck with your own mods.
