Archived Erratic starting

My 96 3500 has been acting funny sometimes, turn the key and the relay will click under the hood and nothing will happen, then other times it will start normally. Still others the starter will sound like it is still spinning for a couple of seconds after it starts. Relay? or solenoid?

My guess is the solenoid. (Longer story, if you are hearing a click=electrictiy to the starter[solenoid problem]. If no noise=no juice to the starter[relay problem]. )
