Erratic TC

I have a 95 2500 club cab with 123000 miles and for the last 60000 miles or so the TC will disengage for a couple of seconds . It does this at random times then it will stop for weeks or months before starting again. After this started, I installed a TC lockup switch for the exhaust brake. Now I can stop the hunting by locking the TC, but but as soon as I open the switch the hunting may return. The hunting stops just erratically as it starts.



I feel that the problem is with an input to the computer, because the switch temporary stops the hunting. Does anyone have an idea as where to start looking?

This one really should be posted on the 12 Valve Drivetrain (1994-1998) forum for the most guys who know about this to see it.



It is most probably a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) problem. Cleaning it by hoseing it down with contact cleaner and working the trottle lever back and forth may fix it.

I think that I have read that this problem is caused by the Throttle Position Switch. You might try looking on the 12 valve forum and run a search on TPS. bg
