My 24 v has been poping a check engine light sometimes. Then I clear it or it will go away after a while. It is a injection pump timing error. Truck runs fine and has been doing this for 20k or so. It does this with and with out boxs. And seems to do it more often if you hotrod it. It had a new vp 44 at 36k And has 87k on it now. It has also had good fuel pressure since 30k or so. Could this be a pick up sensor? Or probly a vp44.

I'd check the connection at the VP44 first, double and tripple check that you have good fuel pressure ALL the time (ie lift isn't cutting for just a sec, maybe not enough time to let a glycerin filled gauge needle drop, but enough for the puter to sense it and pop the code), and be absolutely sure you have a clean filter. If still happening, check the ECM plug (50 pin w/ allen screw holding it in) for good connection/ no corrosion (disconnect batt first). If still happening, probably the VP44. Good Luck.

Check the fuel system real close for rust and/or contamination. If any got through the system it ruins the pump. My partner ran into one a while back that was throwing a timing code, and it had a couple of bad injectors. Dealer had tried a bunch of other stuff first. Would have never believed it, but the code has not come back.
