Trying to locate a dealer for the espar heater fo 98 3500 12 valve. Anyone out there with any stories?

I saw in the classifieds that the TDR has an in with espar heaters and was selling them to members, How true is this, and are they still doing this?

If so, How do I go about geting one?

There's a dealer locator on Espar's website ( www.espar.com ) to point you in the right direction. If you're from Alberta (yeah I know the odds are low but... . ) Polar Mobility is the authorized dealer for the province. Got mine through there-no complaints. Even paid the freight out to me-mind you for what these suckers are worth they should :D . I have the remote kit for mine-good investment in my eyes.

They aren't a whole bunch of fun to put in-at least on a 24 valve. Too much crap on the driver's side fenderwell-it was a 2 man job to mount the heater and mounting bracket-and it's nice to have 2 for dropping and reinstalling the tank. Took around 8 hrs. start to finish with breaks for dinner and beer ;) but not too much beer until after it was done. Swore at the time I'd never do another-but my memory fades quickly... .

Welcome to the TDR :)

I know your question was about the Espar, but being new I was just wondering if you have looked into the Webasto units?

I'm sure both are very fine units, but I personally would opt for the Webasto mainly because of price (they are a few hundered dollars less). The downside is the Webasto units are not a "kit" designed for our trucks so there may be more fabrication involved during the installation.

Just thought I'd let you know,

Ryan

Check out the dealers on the Espar site and call as many of them as you can. Even the ones not located near you. When I bought mine last year, I found that there is a huge difference in prices between some of the dealers. I was quoted over list by some and ended up buying mine for a couple hundred less than list from a dealer in the midwest.

I researched this quite a bit before buying. I think the Webasto is a good unit, but the Espar comes complete and with good instructions. The install will take most of the day, but is not all that difficult. There are a few things that will make you cuss and toss wrenches, kick the dog etc. but all in all not real bad. I installed mine alone and it took about 8 hours, biggest difficulty was with the fuel tank R&R. With the Webasto, you will end up buying lots of little ancillary parts to complete the install and the cost of all of that will soon make the price difference not nearly as much as it appears at first.

For my money the Espar is the way to go. If you live in a cold climate, you will not be disappointed. This is by far the best mod. I have installed on my truck.

Sorry for the long post.

No I did not know of this other company for engine heaters. I shall look into them and compare them.

I was also looking for good pricing on them.

I thought that I saw a posting several weeks ago with a price of $899. 00 for the espar unit, How true is this?

Thank You for all of your input, this group is very informative.

Dropping the tank vs raising the bed. I opted for raising the bed considering I was doing it by myself. Also made a great mouse trap so block the bed real good. I removed the one out of the 97 and have not gotten in the mood to installing on the 01.
