Has anyone had any experience with the Espar Heaters? I am thinking about getting one as I live in the Boston area and don't like getting in cold cabs in the winter.

I am in the process of installing the heater. I purchased it at the show in Columbus. The installation instructions are straight forward. It will take a while to put it in( a day). Some of the details-On the drivers side is a special bracket for the heater that is a pain to put in. I did not remove the tire-if you put it in remove the tire, maybe even get new plastic pop rivets and remove the plastic wheel house. The braket is the hardest part. The starter needs to be out, a new fuel suction banjo fitting comes with the kit. After this it is just a matter of running wires and doing the install. Along with this I also installed all the other goodies from the show. A Horton fan/clutch, I also got rid of the green factory coolant and flushed four times with distilled water and put in the non silicate orange coolant. put on the mag-hytec trans pan. The install is not complete- I need to burn the fuel in my gas tank befor I drop it so for now the fuses are pulled from the espar harness. The instructions are complete and accurate. this is a well researched kit. The rep at the show was from espar of michigan (734) 947-0123. It is also on the links page. I'll do a post when I can get it running on the fuel tank this winter. If it is not cold out there is no proof. You will want to start to do this soon, or defer to next summer. I am too old to do vehicle work when it is cold- Its no fun. BTW get the show price 1000$US for the kit, 125$ for the remote. Other notes-I used the spare grommet next to the steering column, did not drill a new hole. I ty wrapped the fuse block and relays to components- did not drill into the metal for the mounting screws, And I drilled the lower dash area under the cigarette lighter and the ash(change) tray not where the instructions said. And it was not on the lower lip, just under the ash tray hinge. I have a painless wiring unit under the knee bolster- so I did not have to tap control power from a "scotchlock" connector. Sorry it is so long it is a good kit but a little pricy- look at a previous string about other options( bigger electric heaters).

You did leave some money in Ohio didn't you?
Was the Horton fan clutch around $650. 00?
Would you purchase the wheels if you had to do in again? They seem a little pricey. I would prefer to go with an aluminum wheel to save weight but they are probably even more money.

I think that the Espar heater is a sweet deal. To expensive for me tho. I'll run out at work 10 mins before I clock out, and fire it up and let it run. I have a outdoor plug at work I can plug into in sub zero weather. Still would like the Espar tho.

Oh yea I did drop a little "weight" in columbus. Through schneid it was 675$ I don't want to think about what I spent in total. I did the horton and the espar as a "single" modification. As in an aim- Higher initial temperature at start up(ESPAR), faster warm up (horton) this equals less operating hours for the engine being cold(longevity), less operating hours for the operator being cold. I spent a bit on this truck, I aim to keep it for a lot longer than the credit card payment. The wheels have been on for about 2 months, Other than tread squirm on seams they are real nice. Stiffer ride -heavier wheels and tires. I have the 2500 no aluminum is available(yet).
And the aluminum 3500 need wheel adapters to go to the larger bolt circle. The weight savings on unsprung weight are always good- but may not be worth the 1000-2000 over steel wheels. Besides a lot of the added weight is the extra rubber on the ground=more tire mileage. Yes I would do it again. ---------------------
