I'm getting ready to order the Espar heater for my 24v on the TDR deal - but a few questions first. You guys that have installed them - any concerns about lines hanging low during off-roading? I am very concerned about longevity and durability as I want my truck to go 500,000 miles (hopefully)! If anyone has the espar install instructions for a '98. 5+ 24v I would appreciated it if they could fax them to me at 517-566-3419 so I can determine if it will work for me. TIA!

Steve,

You can read the installation instructions on-line at the Espar website. You need Adobe Acrobat reader. See Dodge Ram 24V Technical manual.

http://www.espar.com/htm/tecmans.htm

Installation looks like its going to take a full saturday... and then some.

If your coolant is due for a change or your fuel sending unit, I`d do it at the same.

I am going to order before the 30th too. If any members have installation tips, please share them . #ad

The fuel ine is way up in there, more of a concern is the intake and the exhaust for the heater. While they are tucked next to the frame and are difficult to damage if you are very aggressive you may clog them. Something to check if you need to be winched out of a 4 foot deep mudhole. Hopefully you will check a lot of other things if you are over your axles in muck. Back to the fuel line- it runs over the top of the tank right up by the stock fuel lines. The heater itself is very well protected. You will see how nice an intallation it makes-It does take some time to install.

Something to think about especially if you can get the manpower would be to lift the box off versus having to drop the tank. Accessibilty to the sender and frame mounting should be easier as well.

This is what I did, but I have the 60 Gal. Aero tank and it's a lot harder to take out than the standard tank.

Thanks for the advice guys. I downloaded the instructions from the Espar and am very impressed with them - they seem very complete. One last question - I have a prime-loc remote fuel filter adapter on my 24v (98. 5). It looks from the instructions like the espar heater might get in the way of service the fuel filter on the remote adapter. Anyone have both the Espar and a prime-loc on a 24v? Thanks in advance.
