Competition Great Lakes area points race!

Just watched the ATPA spring nationals from Mercer raceway park, North of Pittsburgh. It was held in May.

This was the pull where they made the pick- ups put on Duramax stickers, or we could not go on the track.

Please the sponsors, get on TV they promised!

Well, all they showed was the Big Rigs of course. Then the announcer at every Full Pull said," that guy is going to Pittsburgh!"

Too bad Pittsburgh was due south, and we pulled west to east!:D

Sometimes I wonder if the pick ups did not get shown becuase of Duramax sponsoring the show.

I just watched it myself. I bet when it came down to it they decided that they couldn't show big power cummins dodge pickups putting on a show at a Duramax sponsored event. What a crock.

Gene, how many times did you say, "There we are!"? LOL

I doubt any of this is true. But I would be mad if I had to put a sticker on my truck just to pull and then not get shown. Were there any D-Max trucks at the pulls? Who won? Any pictures or video's?

I hate to say this as I used to be a chevy guy and I don't want to offend anyone, but I would hope that there weren't any duramaxes at the truck pull. That would be like taking a knife to a gun battle!!!:D :p  Go ahead Chevy guys, let me have it.

Wirenut, I agree with you as I have seen 2 D-Max trucks pull and they didn't do well as both times they were behind my distance, 15 and 25 feet. I know the computer does not use full power until 30 mph in all GM trucks, thank torque management for that.

John, you were there?

I think you know me too well, I called my mother and even told her I was on ESPN, standing at the end of the track!

"ES what???"

John, you, will be getting a bill for me being your answering service this weekend.

For me the Duramax sticker wasn't the worst of it. "Lucas Oil, Cen-Pe-Co oil, K$N," were much, much worse.

Lorretta Mitchell won, 311 feet, then Dave, Black Dog, and me, and a few other Mitchell trucks.

Oh well.

Gene, I think thats the pull I saw on TV. Just to make a note all of the long pulls with the Big Rigs were powered with Cummins.

Ken

At least the drag racers aint he only ones to get this treatment. Rember Bristol race from last year. Same thing, ESPN filmed it and left the pickups off of the boadcast. Maybe we need a diffrent channel to cover us. maybe speed would do better?

I used to get that treatment when I was mud drag racing. USHRA and PACE would make me put their stickers on my nice sticker-free paint. Then I got wise and attached them with masking tape.

I believe I saw that pull on ESPN. Didn't know the pickups got left out. :( Would have made my day to see you guys on TV. I'll have to wait for Muncie again. The Cummins powered big rigs were impressive though. Who was the "Diesel Doctor"? I forgot his name. He and his wife pulled with Cummins power and those rigs were impressive. Major frame twist from the torque. I thought they were going to take that sled home with them.

My son was impressed when they talked about the V12 rig. I said "yeah, yeah, watch that straight 6 Cummins take him out". :D
