Okay guys I'm confused.

Yesterday my company bought a repo 2000 3500 SLT. It has a six speed gearbox, but the engine tag says 235hp. I believe I have seen it posted that the six speed was available in late '99 with the ETC. What really confuses me is that the turbo is a HX-35. I thought the ETC turbo was a HY-35. This truck runs stronger than my HO as well. Maybe it is just broke in better Having 53k miles where as mine only has 23k miles.

I'm sure there more than a few fellow members that can clear this up for me. Any responses are appreciated!

By the way, we payed $22k for it, and I have the opportunity to buy it for what we have in it. It is in decent shape but not imacculate (at least not by my standards). Is this a good price?

Thanks.

repo

If it's in as good shape as you say and is sound, I'd fly down and buy and drive it back if the wife would let me have 2 manual rams.

yes it is a etc/dee. The eth is only in the 01+ but the 6 speed was an option on the 1999/2000. It is not the same as the transmission that is in your truck though. The nv5600 was up rated for 2001 with a bigger input shaft and I don't know what else. As for the turbos I think the HY is a 2001 thing as the etc truck I have seen from the previous years have the HX.

Sounds like a good price to me but I don't know what the texas used truck market is like at the moment.

Ted

As I understand it the HY is for auto trucks. I believe that even the 01 and 02 5-speed ETC have the HX.

Just to help you with pricing, I paid $25,000 for mine in two months ago with 35K miles on it. It is in perfect condition, one owner and has everything but leather. See Sig. ( now don't get me wrong I feel like I stole mine :) ) Yours sounds like a steal also!!! :D

The only engine that had the HY turbo is the 2001 (& possibly the 02) automatic trucks. The HX has been in everything else.

I can tell you that in Tx, the Cummins and Powerstrokes bring top dollar on the used vehicle market. Most always way above book value. There is really ALOT of demand here. Not much demand for used 6. 5 diesels, though :p

Weren't those GM diesels know as "GM grenades" cause they blew up so faithfully?

Out here in Ca. the Dodge/Cummins go for a premium too. For $22k I'd grab it if I needed another one.

A year and a half ago, I paid $16k for a cherry 1995, 2500 with 57,000 miles. It came with cd player, running boards, Pac brake, K&N, TST 230/605, Mystery Switch, bigger valve body, new Michelins, 5th wheel hitch, (2) Mag-Hytecs, and a tool box.
