Can anyone explain the Cummins ETC and ETH designation.

ETC was auto trans,235 hp... ETH was six speed, 245 hp with HO motor.

Thanks RAM4SAM. My tag on the motor has all the paint off the characters and my old eyes cant make any of it out. I used the vin to decode that my motor was an ETC. Still not sure what size transmission is in the truck, 47 or 48. Its a 3500 4x4 dually. Moe

The 48RE transmissions were installed in the third generation trucks. Some third generation trucks built before Jan 1, 2003 still had the 47RE transmissions and didn't have the 305 HP-555 ftlb torque engine.
