OK, been reading this forum for quite awhile and I must be thick-headed. How do you know the difference between ETC & ETH? I assume? DEE is the six speed transmission. Is everyone in agreement that PowerEdge is superior to say "TST or BD"?
Hope I don't stir up too much!!!

Thanks,
dzet

ETC is the standard Cummins diesel engine and is available with the 4 speed automatic and the 5 speed manual (DDX). ETH is the high output (HO) version of the Cummins and is only available with the 6 speed manual transmission (DEE). Even though the ETH is only available with the 6 speed, the 6 speed is still an additional option at $400.

No I don't think we are all in agreement on anything #ad
Different brands of boxes have different features, and each brand has its proponents. Some brands get more ink on the forum, but that can be due to other factors than performance or quality. You should do your homework carefully.

Sorry, I did not post my question correctly.
How can I check to see what my engine is "ETC or ETH" Will it show on the engine tag/plate, in the book, on the window sticker, or the VIN?

Thanks, dzet

how do I use the smiles? thick-headed again

from the look of your signature you have an ETC , the ETH was a 2001 engine option .

as far as the smiles , when you go to the ppage to post a message on the left side of the box you put your message in you will see a line that says SMILES LEGEND , click that , it will pop up a page that tells you what smiles are available and what to type to insert them ... when typing them leave a space before and after the ":" #ad

oh and you are only allowed 8 smiles per post

dzet, on my 2001 ETH truck, on the passenger's side on front of the engine compartment, in front of radiator is a steel plate riveted to the truck that has all codes for engine, transmission, paint, ... stamped into it. Maybe your's does also.

You should be able to figure out the engine type (and a bunch of other information about your truck) from the VIN number. The codes are can be found at http://dodgeram.org/tech/specs/VIN_decode.htm

You're VIN number can be found on your registration or insurance card.

Mopar: I purchased my Ram the end of Jan. 2000. Don't know when it came off assembly line. Is there not a definite way of determining which it is? ETC or ETH?

thanks
