Question for you H. O. guys who tow, I have a friend who tows a large horse trailer all over the country and wants to chip his truck for a little more power. Truck history is as follows< daughter installed power puck, exuast, k&n and larger injectors, while on trip 15,000 miles later melted something in #6 Cylinder and turbo. He rebuilt #6 and took out injectors and puck and finally installed pyrometer. Truck obviously feel slow compared to before and he wants some power back. Thanks.

See my signature - this is a nice towing combination for us. We pull a 36' 13,500 lb 5th wheel that puts us on the road at 10,380 GVW (10,500 GVWR) and 21,180 GCW (21,500 GCWR). With this combination, maximum boost is around 33 PSIG, and maximum pre-turbo EGT is 1225 degF. Power is certainly adequate!

If he's not going to run injectors, the Edge EZ alone is a nice towing box, although you'll undoubtedly get a lot of recommendations to run the Edge Comp with the pump wire not connected.

Don't know if the power puck pierces the pump wire or not. Comp is nice because its adjustable in cab. What size injectors? If he has the pyrometer, he can now watch egt's and not worry. Sounds like he is his own warranty station.

Good towing combo = Injectors & Box.

There will be a thousand opinions on this.

II's & EZ seem to work pretty good for most people.

Tell him he needs a fuel pressure gauge, it will protect the vp44 in the long run.

Is he running the stock clutch? If so I think the II's and EZ will be over the limit.

I have a chip from bullydog and their 120 horse injectors and i can really heat up if i tow into the mountains. The first thing i did after the chip was an egt gauge and and i tow 14,000 pus every weekend and i never heated up passed 1350. But i also lost some speed on the larger grades, so i got their 120 horse injectors, way too much for towing(didn't know at the time) and now i have plenty of power but alot of the time if i am fighting head winds i have to back off to keep egt below 1350. But with all the boxes out there i'm sure you can find something good. Also my dealer sold me my torque dog chip from bullydog and they told me that it will not void any warranty and they put it into writing to prove it. Corey

One other thing, with my combo i had my clutch replaced at 50,000 because of major slipping and the shop told me that it wouldn't of lasted another 10k.
