I also am interested in the Evans coolant, I saw it in iesel power mag and went to there website. Anyone have experience with Evans?

Evans Coolant

I've been running the Evans coolant in my ford for several years and have seen no down side. I run a "0" pressure system, coolant filter, and a 203 degree thermostat and have never had a problem. I'm considering changing my 05 cummins over and posted yesterday asking what type of antifreeze is currently in my truck and whether anti-cavitation additives are required, but have had no response. I changed my ford over because of the additive requirement and their negative effect on the water pump, I believe the fact that you can run low or even no pressure is an added benefit. I paid $25/gal a few years ago but I believe its closer to $35 now. Jeff

Have you seen any mpg increase with the Evans, or did you make the switch just for longevity? What if any changes have you noticed. Also what kind of coolant filter are you using now, and how often are you changing out the filters.

I ran Meca coolant which is what it was called before Evans bought the company and it worked great in a gasser@ 0 psi. The raason I wont run it again is that if something happens and you loose some coolant you can't just add water or anti freeze and leave it be. The system must then be flushed and refilled with Evans. Just didn't want to mess with it. Larry

I haven't tracked mileage that closely to notice any minimal gain in mpg I may get from the Evans. I use a Baldwin coolant filter and monitor the return to the expansion tank. The first filter stopped flowing by 5000 miles, now I change them about every 15,000. I carry a regular radiator cap so that in emergencies I can add water (distilled if possible) and pressureize the system. Haven't needed it so far. Jeff
