Page 14-59 of the 2003 Service Manual, volume 1:

"WARNING: ENGINE MAY START WHILE CRANKING STARTER MOTOR. "

The bold and caps are not my addition... that's exactly how it appears in the manual.

That's a classic and I CAN believe it. I've been flying planes for the AF for over 20 years now... one of the types I flew actually had decals on the throttle quadrant that had an arrow pointing forward and the words "thrust increase" and an arrow pointing back that said "thrust decrease". My God... if someone was in control of the thing that needed those instructions, they were in deep doo doo indeed!!!

I think the Ford one says "Warning: Cranking engine with starter may result in critical fluid loss.

makes you wonder if the chevy one says

"Warning: Cranking engine with starter will drain battery. "

I can't help but wonder if someone ever turned the key to crank the starter and somehow injured someone else when the engine started, then sued an automaker over it.

I read a magazine "snipit" once about a woman who was suing GM because she put her truck in reverse, got out, walked behind it, and got run over by the truck.
