Competition Ever broke the factory 1 3/8 input on 6spd

Has enyone ever broke the factory 1 3/8 input on the 6spd? And if so, did you replace it with a billet part? The reason I'm asking is that I'm looking to upgrade my 1 1/4" input on my early 6 speed. I noticed that the High performance vendors offer a billet input for about twice the price you can find an oem one from Blumenthals. I've never heard of any of the oem 1 3/8 shafts breaking so I don't see the need to upgrade to a billet. Can anyone shed some light on this? Are the 1 3/8 that everyone upgrades to in the 5 spds. billet?

No but i twisted a 1 3/8 upgrade in a 5 speed.
