Something told me to roll it up before we went to bed in Gulf Shores Sunday night... . A 2am squall gave us a rude awakening. Anyway, the thing is ripped and I was going to try to have it repaired. The framework survived OK. Any tricks to removing the canvas? Thanks in advance. Timmy

Yes ... . you can't as far as I know get a new "canvas" for the awning ... you have to get the whole tube ... as it is spring loaded and you have to release the tension when you install the new one. I had the same thing happen to me in Florida several years ago . . no rain for 6 weeks down there ... then one night the sky unloaded on me ... so ... the awning collapsed ..... it's a pain in the a$$ to replace ... I'd pay someone if it happens to me again!

Had the same thing happen last year. You can replace the canvas and not the whole awning. Ordered mine from Camping World. It's not a simple job, but can be done with 3 people. Instructions come with the canvas-read very carefully. They explain how to unwind the springs and rewind them. It's really not too difficult but be careful. I think it is much cheaper than replacing the whole tube. Good luck. Kenny N4YYX

Just following up. Camping World has them for 2 bills plus shipping. Most sizes. And from what I have gathered ,this is not your typical do it yourself project. I'm going to bring it to the professionals for the install. Thanks for the info.

I used to take my tube and vinyl off in the winter until I found out how inexpensive the cover is. It wasn't worth the hassle but it wasn't hard to do and I did it myself. Count the turns on the spring and rewind it the same. I just looked at mine again and don't see a need to remove the tube. Pull the awning out, cut the old vinyl off and simply slide the new cover back in both slots simultaneously. Craig
