Well tonight I was unlucky and lucky at the same time.
A couple friends of mine witnessed a guy take a couple of my weights (100lb whites) from the scales that I had to drop off to make weight.
They went ahead and let him pull with them then after the hook he loaded up his piece of crap gasser 76 Ford on his trailer with the weights still inside of the cab.
At that point the guy was confronted and asked for the weights back which were still in his floor board under a layer of cardboard and a helmet on top of them.
He did return them but he had to be asked.
Well when I got back to the pit area I was livid after I heard someone tried to jack me.
I went ahead and notified the deputies that were nearby and they investigated the incident.
Eventually the guy came back to his SUV that had the little trailer with his junky Ford and I asked him if he was the one that took the weights.
He got pretty ****** and defensive right off the bat. We both went to speak with the deputies.
He said someone said "he could borrow them" at the scales
That schmuck from the scales came over and tried to smooth it over with me and I wasnt buying it.
At no point did he ever thank me for using my weights. The guy was a real piece of work.
This is the condensed version of the story...
I guess its a lesson learned and I thought I would pass it on... . WATCH OUT FOR THE THIEVES!!
Side note: The deputy said he would turn it in to the prosecutor and site the guy but I figured it was going no where and I sure didnt want to have to come back to court to over 100 bucks worth of tractor weights, so I just told him warn the guy.
For what it was worth the guy lost alot of face and word spread quick that he had stolen the weights.
