Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) ever lose a oil pump???????

Have a buddy with a 96 that lost a turbo. . replaced that and discovered no oil pressure. He pulled the turbo oil line and had no oil flow and the filter was partially empty. seems to run fine..... but??? could a KDP failure cause loss of oil pump?????? HELP

scattered oil pump

just got a call from my buddy, oil pump is scattered dont know why yet... ...

That ain't good. Just a simple gear pump, too. Inlet screen get plugged?

well found a piece of aluminum "slag"?? in the impeller its a piece of aluminum about 1/8 inch dia about 1/4 inch long, semi rectangular with a round end. the inlet screen is 100% intack and not clogged???? this is a stumper???

Can you post a picture of the piece, it might help identify the origin.
