4x4 to 2 wheel Drive?

Just curious.....

Has anyone ever seen the 'little' Cummins 4BT but in the Classic Land Rovers? I'm thinking about the 109's in particular.

Would it fit?

Just dreaming today.....

Thanks 'Owl!

I'm familiar w/ ECR and salivate everytime I visit their website.

I don't know what it is about those old Rovers but I would love to have one w/ a 4BTA, NVG4500, NP205 and some Slimmed down Dana 60/Dana 70 axles in the girl.

I've seen a NVG4500 placed behind a Chevy 350 w/ some re-work & welding in a 109 on the web.

I think it would be cool to have a vintage 109 bodied Land Rover (not prestine but functional) w/ a bombproof running gear & a Cummins 4 cylinder.

It would be a great "Go Anywhere Sleeper" that most folks wouldn't understand what's under the hood & body. It would be great for adventure tours & nobody would mess w/ it because it looks like a beat-up old LR!

Dreams..... Maybe one day!

Many LR folks recommend putting in a smaller Iszuz (sp?) 4 cyl . Diesel. It was a very popular conversion "Down Under" in Australia. I don't know much about this conversion though... ... sounds kind of "Duramax-ish" to me! :)

Here's a great link from the ECR site that 'Owl had recommended.

They Installed a 2. 8 l "Powerstroke" in a Defender 90. The 4 cyl "Powerstroke' is an engine used in Brazil by Ford and puts out 277 ft. lb of torque.

2. 8l Powerstroke

Maybe is not so "Duramax-ish" after all!

The little 4BD1 isuzu is a very good motor. Here's the six cylinder version: http://www.picturetrail.com/turbokid1

It's anything but "duramaxish" with 5. 8 liters, direct injected, chrome liners, roller lifters, 17:1 compression ratio, inline fuel pump (similar to p7100), huge injectors, etc.
