I was IN auto Zone to buy a oil filter for my diesel Cummings and they had 3 brands to fit my truck. They had a K&N for 15 dollars I said Wow. Why so high I ask. I bought a fram for a third of the price. When I got home I check on the Internet and check with K&N and the same filter Is $9. 95 ship to your home. No good deal at Auto Zone. My question Is do you think K&N filters are that much better.

It has got to be better than the Fram you bought  No offense intended but those are possibly the worst filters on the planet, I would not put one on my truck. Who makes the K&N? Is it their product or somebody else's just re-labled? I personally have never been impressed by anything K&N. The air filters are well known to pass more dirt in order to make the better airflow claims. Maybe the oil filters flow better too  Try Geno's garage. They have Fleetgaurd filters. Or hit the dealer for a Mopar filter.

Just go to your local Cummins place and buy Fleetguards by the case!! Talk nice to them and they will probably cut you a deal. I pay $6 a piece for the Stratapore oil filter and $6. 25 each for fuel filters! :p

how long you planning to run your truck? Fram has probably fixed the stringy blue stuff issues... who knows.

if youre gona go cheap go to the quick lube and get the special :-laf

As the other guys posted check out the Fleetguard stuff from Geno's or a local truck shop.

Definately Fleetguard or Mopar filters! I think I did read somewhere that a K&N was a re packaged Wix, which is a good filter, but not the "approved" filter.

Now Mopar filters are a spin off of another filter. I don't remember which one. Now autozone has different filters. I will take the fram back and exchange It. But for what????You tell me.

Take it back and leave it back. Of the three that Autozone has, I'd run an STP filter before all the others, it's made by Champion Labs and is a good filter for anything but a Diesel truck.

As stated here, use what the OEM recommends... and never, ever, ever, use a Fram. Don't ever use a Fram on any car as long as you live. That is complete garbage.

I've used them on my truck truck since day one. 130,000 miles no problems. The one inch nut on the bottom makes oil changes a snap. I order mine from Diesel Injection Service in Lubbock, TX. www.dieselpage.com Buy a case of 6 filters they are $7. 50 a piece. In a TDR Article a few years back the K&N Gold oil filter was rated just behind the Fleetguard Stratapore. It's a quality filter.
