Water Level Accuracy

Ok... ..... now that I have everybody thinking about LT vs. ST trailer tires :) let me shift gears just a bit and ask everyone if they know anything about the Evergreen travel trailers.

I have located one a lot closer to me than Silver City NM and the trailer only weighs around 4500# dry.

Grizzly... ... do these trailers show up in your TT guide that you have?

The Ever-Lite RVs are recently introduced composite, lightweight trailers from Evergreen, a new RV manufacturer. There has been a bit of discussion of these over on iRV2. I'd suggest going over there and doing an Advanced Search of "Evergreen" restricted to the Travel Trailer forum. The reason for this is that, if you run a general search, you're going to be flooded with posts/threads related to Evergreen RV, an RV dealer in New Braunfels, TX.

Okay, time for a stupid question. How do I obtain a RVCG? I'm looking at a Keystone Montana 3150RL. I've seen the negative here about Montana's but you see a lot of them on the road. Also looking at Jayco's and left over '09 Teton Prestige for 3/4 ton trucks.

It's not in my RVCG. Tell me more about it. Who makes it? What model and year?

Ever-Lite TT by Evergreen is rated 2. 5 stars in the RV Consurer Group. (RVCG)

Here is what the staff of RVCG has to say about Ever-Lite;

The RV industry has finally entered the "Green" movement with the creation of new companies sprouting up with promises to be more fuel-efficient, formaldehyde-free, lighter and easier to tow, etc. One of these new companies is Evergreen Recreational Vehicles, which is based on some of the assets of Pilgrim International. Doug Lantz, formerly of Pilgrim, and now president and CEO of Evergreen, is confident enough in the quality of Evergreen's new Ever-Lite towables that the company can offer three-year warranties. ComposiTek, the wood-free composite material used in construction of the Ever-Lite is part of Evergreen's inheritance from Pilgrim, along with shop tools, office machines, and prototype trailers that were scheduled for marketing by the now-defunct company.

These are JD Gallant comments:
I like what Evergreen is saying, but I can't seem to trust much coming from Pilgrim -- of whom one of the founders was Dave Hoefer. This innovator of the nineties never built a good trailer -- just a salable trailer. Anyway, prejudices aside, it's too early in the game to guess what Evergreen is up to. With composites the mainstay of their construction, we'll have to just wait and see. But heck, being a tree hugger from way back, I'm really hoping that their Evergreen products are really green.

Hope this helps, george

Not at all a stupid question, but a rather intelligent question. A subscription for towable trailers is $139, which I believe is a great investment. I purchased my initial subscription in 07 plus I purchase an upgrade every two years. I also purchased the optional Truck Campers (Slide In Campers).

Ok..... the Evergreen deal fell through. Now... ... ..... Grizzly... ... . would you mind listing the best rated Travel Trailers? I'm sure there are folks like me that don't want or need a 5th wheel.

I am looking for the best rated Travel Trailer that will mostly be used for weekend trips to the lake and possibly a short vacation trip once a year. I am on a limited budget of say $15,000 to $25,000 and want to spend my hard earned money wisely. :)

There are so many different brands out there and they all claim to be the best thing since buttons on shirts that I am getting mighty confused. If I just had a short list of quality Travel Trailer companies that make decent TT's that want fall apart on the first trip to the State Park!

I started to buy a membership to the RVCG, but they only download to Windows PC's and I'm running on an Apple! :)

HELP!!!!! I'm drowning in a sea of Travel Travel data!

Tommie,

I can only give you a few because to list all of them would take too long. It's best to subscribe to RVCG and get the CD's and tell them you have an apple. This partial list is TT only;

Casita, 5 stars, list price $14. 5K

New Horizon, 5 stars, list price, $75K

Bigfoot, 4. 5 stars

Arctic Fox, 4 stars

Nash, 4 stars

Trail Manor, 4 stars

Triple E Topaz, 4 stars

Aliner, 3. 5 stars

Tommie, if its not to late for the Arctic Fox deal, I'd buy the AF and enjoy. I traveled 1500 miles to purchase my 33. 5v Arctic Fox 5ver and have never regretted it. Well built, and the best part about the AF, they seem to oversize the frame under their coach's. When I inspected in person my AF, and looked under the 5ver, I was sold on the solid platform and size of the frame.

The AF deal is still a possibility. I just told the dealer that I was considering other trailers closer to me. I hope he will call me with a better price but I doubt that will happen. I just hate driving 900 miles, having to purchase new tires, have wheel bearings checked, install electric tongue jack and WDH, when I have already found some other trailers a lot closer to me that already have electric tongue jacks and WDH included with them. Just trying to look at all the different options and making a good decision.

I have narrowed my short list down to the following:

Heartland (new or used)

Trail Manor (new or used)

Sunnybrook (new or used)

Jayco E2 or Eagle (used)

Casita (new)

Arctic Fox (used)

I plan on going to some dealers in the next few weeks to look some of these over real close. Hopefully the right TT will just scream " buy me" when I find it.

Thanks Grizzly! This has helped a lot. I plan on purchasing the RVCG and doing more research.
