Here I am

Everyone should be a fireman

Attention: TDR Forum Junkies
To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.

Thanks, TDR Staff

The *******s tried it again!

We have not yet begun to fight...

must agree!!!

You know, I was just thinking the same thing!! :D Best career in the world if you ask me... I won't ever be rich, but I have a great time at work. I used to have one of those "jobs" that you wake up in the morning at say to yourself "sh*t, I have to go to work today. Not any more. .

"what do you want to do to the whole world Ronnie?".....

Ronnie---"burn it, burn it all!!" ;)

Only special people are firefighters. Not just anyone can handle all the heat, smoke and the flames. All the more for those of us that can.

They say we are a group that is a bit touched in the heads. Yep, I think they are right. There's no better rush...

Fire Fighters

We all owe you guys a great deal, go out and put your life on the line for total strangers ever day, a BIG THANKS from me to all of you. :)

Thanks Chuck. We need that. Its a job we love, but not always appreciated.

I've been at it for over 13 years, as a volunteer. You get those who run up and slap you on the back for a job well done and those that are in your face for cutting that big hole in their roof for what?!

Jen

Captain of our little fire district

I;m one also 27 years on the job, and like most Professional Fire Fighters, I love my job. As Jen, puts it only a certian breed can hack it . I;ve seen Rookies drag up before there first shift was over, after a working structure fire scared the begeebies out of them. As a matter of fact we lost one 7 Sept 01 after a fatality fire in a residence, the kid was pulling his second tour on B Platoon and got over excited an ended up in the Hospital, and quit the next morning after being released, said the Accademy did not prepare him for this real world stuff. I tried talking in to staying and working things out , but he would have no part of that.

We pull 24 hours on and 48 hours off here, as do most Departments.

It's all about helping people.

Last 2 nights for me = Barn Fire (4Hours); Auto Crash (2Hours)

Being able to help get a little girl out of the back seat of a truck on it's roof on a highway during a severe thunderstorm is very rewarding. I gladly give up my personal time to help out in situations like that.

For me it doesn't pay the bills, but it pays me much more in good feelings. The occasional adrenaline rush is always welcome too. :D

Helping people is a good feeling

I am also a volunteer fireman with 19 years on the job for our small town. Not as active as I used to be, my primary function these days is pump operator/chauffeur. Being in the Fire Service sure changed my life for the better! Rick.

You know, I started not to write about my feelings on this because everybody else pretty much summed it up. I just wanted to say that i have been doing this for a little over 11 years. I have fought fires and helped people both on land and at sea! The one common element no matter if you are a career man like me or a volunteer, you can guarantee that at any given moment anywhere in the world somebody somewhere is putting their life on the line to save someone or someone's property! So, rest easy tonight in your warm bed! We'll Handle It!

What else can be said?

There's nothing else I can add to the above. 'Cept maybe, I wish my wife was as enthusiastic about it as I was. :D

Interesting to see how many of us there are on the TDR.

Always good to see other that with the backround here.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of the(currently) 200 missing emergency service workers in NYC.

They gave their lives trying to help others and that is the most noble way to die. Your brothers in uniform feel for you.

To those TDR members who are FD/EMS/PD in NYC, I sincerely hope that you get to read this tonight.

Good luck and god bless.

Please pray.

Please pray for those that lost thier lives trying to assist others in a time of need. Please pray that God will comfort the ones that are left behind. This strikes too close to home for alot of us on this thread.

God hear our prayers and guide our steps.

I mean this with respect:

Where are they going to find enough bagpipes?

The thought of that eventual parade makes me tear up just thinking about it.

Probably be awhile before they can do it but NY will do right by the fallen.

Well, since I've just joined the many statistics of the Silicon Valley layoffs, I think I'll join up. I've already been trained by the California Department of Forestry in wildland firefighting before I joined the Marine Corps, so I think I'll at least volunteer. Sure beats some user screaming at you because they can't work without their computer.

Also consider the fact that most companies like for their employees to volunteer for special services to their communities and this will always look good on a resume, this may help your advancment within. just a thought .

please pray for all those involved with the recent tragety , don't forget the families left behind too. Kevin

I noticed this thread started before the attacks on Sept. 11. Now all those fireman are trapped or... dead. Kinda brings things home.

Thanks guys, for being there for the rest of us.

just receiced notice today that New York City is requesting help from all firefighters across the U. S. A. for assistence in the search and rescue of victoms, this will help free up the local firemen so they can take care of the rest of the city since they lost 300 men in the collapse of the building. Myself and my company has offered my services for a 2 week period, my company will pay my wages and F. E. M. A. will pay all transportation and boarding for the 2 week duration, I put my name in to the pool of potential firemen to respond to their aid, I am waiting for a call and will be proud and honered to assist in this huge task at hand... ... .
