Got everything finished up tonight and we should be completely back to normal. I had trouble getting the new version of MySQL (along with the 30 other packages) working on the slave server when I got the master done on monday. I concentrated on any remaining issues this week with the master and tried to catch up a little on sleep before tackling the software upgrades on the slave. Everything is now up and running fully on both servers so if something should happen now I can switch us over quickly to the backup server.
The last several days have been record traffic numbers with a new record for peak users set almost daily! 661 on the 19th; 665 on the 21st; and now 722 last night! The server cruised through it all with flying colors - with lower loads shown on the server than when we were at with 450 users 2 weeks ago. Our slow query rate was at . 003% average over the last 2 days (those taking longer than 10 seconds) whereas we had been over . 02% for some time. Server loads never went over 1. 5 even at peak times with no more than 65% of the RAM used. Posting is also much faster with a change that I made to the system to work around a problem with the way this version of vBulletin is designed.
Now that everything is done I can get back to new features for the site. We have a number of things in the works
- keep an eye out. If you have any problems with anything let us know. I'm going to bed
