Why Bio????

There have been several threads on bio-diesel lately, so I thought I would post the following web site, which has all the info one should need to both understand how how to make bio-diesel, and how to build a bio-diesel processer from parts you can get at your local hardware store.

Also, a site I mentioned in another post. The April & May online issues take you through all the steps necessary to make a small batch of bio-diesel.

Biofuel

Got a neighbor that has a 'Benz. Used biofuel. Went on a six week sailing jaunt. When he got back the bio had jelled and the entire fuel system had to be taken down and cleaned. FYI :(

Cooker,

Are you a fuel chemist? neither am I... .

The father of diesel first made the Engine to run on seed oil... they didn't do the conversion because then petro oil was cheaper so they went to and refined for that... .

There are a few key ingredients in the "secret" bottle to make it stable but it will still gel in the winter so it needs to be blended with #2... . I also have an anti gel from filta-kleen so I will use that as well... ... .

Cutting veggie oil with kerosene to change it's viscosity is not really anything special.

The additive they are selling can't be all that special either, IMHO, if a $12. 99 bottle of it treats 152 gallons of oil.

Obviously this technique works, but from what I know about it and burning raw vegetable oil as compared to Biodiesel, I personally do not consider it a a great alternative.

I would also be very surprised if this technique yields the same power and fuel economy as Biodiesel or #2.

JMHO

I guess time will tell.

I have been doing a bit more research on Diesel Secret. I think I am going to start another thread about this "snake oil" instead of cluttering up this one.
