I went to the local Dodge Dealer and got the DVD/CD from the Service Mgr.

He put a label on the drivers sunvisor with instructions how to drive and messages that would display on the EVIC. Very interesting that it shows a message as follows:

EXHAUST SYSTEM -----REGENERATION IN PROCESS

Indicates that the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is self-cleaning. Maintain your current driving condition until regeneration is completed.

EXHAUST SYSTEM -----REGENERATION COMPLETED

Indicates that the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) self-cleaning is completed. If this message is displayed, you will hear one chime to assist in alerting you of this condition.

This same info is in the supplement Owners Manual on page 81 along with other messages that I'm not entering here that the service mgr gave me.

The moderator on the DVD states that some models show the above messagaes while other models display different ones.

I thought we were all driving the same pickups.

The C&C is the only other type/model I have heard of. Maybe I'm not up to the latest update.

Does anyone get the regen messages on the overhead????????????

I don't get those messages on my EVIC. Mine has a built date of May 2007.

I do know when it is in regeneration mode because the Pyro shows the temp go from about 1000 degrees to between 1200-1300 and then back again. I also see the avg. MPG go down.

We have a mid June 07 build date on an 08 5500 but was delayed in delivery... . we now have 30K + miles on this truck and to date have not seen any change in the display when it regens... In fact the driver doesn't know that it ever has done it... .

I'm thinking as the first 6. 7's rolled out and they saw the need for changes, they updated the code (software) and there might be 100 different sets of code out there... . but as or if these trucks roll in for some service they are getting the latest and greatest... .

We ordered our truck before we had pricing... . We know our 08 5500 was built in June and later sat in a lot on US soil for almost 3 1/2 months before it was shipped to us... . We don't really have any idea why all the 4500/5500 were held up in transit that long except for changes done to the truck... but the dealer has no idea what those were... .

Inspection of the truck showed several tattle tales of items being unbolted and replaced as well as series of painted dots under the hood, but one really never knows... .

You will only get a EVIC message if you need to regenerate, during normal driving you will regenerate and this will be transparent (no notification, etc. ) - that is how the system was designed. There are different messages on some trucks as the messages were changed, there is a re-flash that dealerships will perform on the cluster to change the EVIC, but the DVD was covering both sets of messages to cover all the bases.

There are no components that require painted dots after remove and install that I am aware of, there are a bunch of marks on the engine but those are checks from the factory, both engine and vehicle assembly. These are typically referred to as "checks" or "over-checks" - they ensure that your clamps/sensors/etc. were put on correctly.

The EVIC should say something to the effect of " Dollar bills flying from the tail pipe, KEEP DRIVING "

JELAG

Your dealer knows why they were held up. The 5500 could not meet the 07 emissions standards for some reason and they could not ship them until they got it fixed
