I'm going to add the EVS II Security System w/Sentry Key to my 2005. I'd like to hear from anyone who has added this to their 2005. My main questions are:

1. Can I install it then go to the dealer to have the computer coded to accept the Sentry Key (in other words, after I install it, is the truck drivable to the dealer)?

2. I've heard that the wiring color code may no be correct with the 2005. Anyone install this and find that the installation manual did not agree with the 2005 wiring colors?

3. I installed the EVS II system in my 2001 and it all worked fine, except the shock sensor never did work. Adjusted it all the way up and down and it would never go off when the truck was bumped. Does the new EVS II system work better?

Any other suggestions would also be appreciated... ;)

On my 04. 5 the EVS II is pretty much useless for an alarm. Key and remote work fine, but the motion/shock sensor sucks. If I adjust high enough to do any good, it goes off at all the wrong times, thunder, motor cycles, street sweeper, but you nearly have to actually break a window before it will go off. If I adjust it down, it does not go off at all.

trust me, it is a booger to get working right, I would have the dealer install it, And if they say if does not work on 05's, they are wrong... I had to install one on an 05 MYSELF because a slacker tech couldn't get it working, the alarm part was not working but the sentry key was. . he did not follow the install sheet perfectly

If it does not work, redo all the instructions and try again

good luck, and I would let the dealer handle the sentry part, its not readily installable without a DRB i think

My vote is for the autopage with remote start. Does window roll up, bi-fob remote, driver pager and works up to a half mile with the remote. Mine never goes off unless i forget the alarm is on when i open the tailgate.

When I picked up the truck, the dealer said that there was no aftermarket EVS alarm available for the 2005. I've seen them on the internet, but he insisted that they couldn't get it. Didn't have time to argue with him, so I took the truck without having the alarm installed.

Are you saying that if you can follow the install instructions, to the letter, you would still have the dealer install it rather then do it yourself? When I installed the EVS on my 2001, it worked fine.

I know the dealer has to activate the computer to recognize the sentry key and alarm, but will the truck start and run, after the install, before I take it to the dealer for activation?

Is the EVS II the same as the factory option security sytem?

same but the key will not dis-arm the alarm when inserted into the door keyhole with the EVS "after the fact" one you buy from parts dept.

BUT the factort one will do that
