HI ALL,I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT THE EXAHUST,I TOOK OFF MY RESANATOR AND MUFFLER,AND RAN STRAIGHT PIPE OUT TO THE FRONT OF MY REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. IS THIS ENOUGH PIPE OR SHOULD I HAVE RUN IT OUT THE REAR. OR DOES IT NOT MATTER? THANKS:confused:

I have asked this question to other ctd owners and have been told by all but one that the exhaust length would neither hurt nor significantly help performance. One person told me, and he is a mechanic at DC dealer (Diesel), that the 24 valve required the back pressure of the resonator and muffler. I have since then concluded by reading on here that he was not correct! I have straight pipe on my 2001 ETH and it runs fine. IMO it is not a problem! Anyone else, hear anything different?

I had a guy want to argue with me today about how bigger exhaust are not better. He defense was you need some backpressure to keep the engine running properly. I tried to tell him the turbo will create enough backpressue to keep things runnin' properly.

Then he said he'd buy a Power POS over a Cummins because on Trucks they got 170 extra horsepower for $1100.

Oh well. I don't have the time to waste on these Big - Block gas engine lovers, they must think the same applies to diesels. I'll keep my 5. 9l I6 :D :D :D

exhaust

My exhaust dumps just behind the cab. length has no affect on them. I also just finished my training in diesel technology at Wyoming Technical Institute and all of the mock up engines have 6 inch pipe that runs straight to the roof of the shop. which is a good 15 to 20 feet. no problems.
