Exaust pipe tools

JC Whitney has a pipe seperator that they sell but it only fits up to 2. 5in. pipe. Anybody know of one thet will fit a 3. 5 or 4in pipe? I want to remove and reinstall the CAT and muffler and am looking for a puller.

I would use a sawzall and reconnect with 4" band clamps.

Kind of thought that way. Once I ever got the plumbing apart the pinch clamps now on it would have put a large crease in the material, saws all would get rid of that. Can't afford a 4in right now.

I'm in the middle of a project now and need to remove two mufflers from the "silencer tunnel" ('78 Jaguar) in order to get at some bolts which are otherwise inaccessible. Cutting the pipe with a Sawzall to later make a butt joint with a flat band clamp would be difficult as the pipe is mostly curves and runs up through the rear suspension. Cutting it right where the exhaust pipe enters the front of the muffler, however is a straight shot/easy access.



So what about cutting the exhaust right at the end of the muffler pipe then putting them back together with a lap joint band clamp (see attached) rather than cutting the pipe and using a flat band clamp that's made for a butt joint? Think it would be strong enough?

Eastwood has an exhaust seperator that is good for 4". Try www.eastwood.com # 43583. It is $69. 99.



Of course I used my Craftsman Professional "sawsall" with a 6" blade and just cut my muffler off when I installed the MBRP.



Eastwood has a bunch of good stuff for auto restoration, body work, etc.

Yeah they have alot of good stuff but it's expensive! Like the Camping World catalog, a lot of the stuff you can get at Wal-Mart for 1/2 the price.
