the Neat Feature on this RV is the Separating wall for the garage can open up to make the entire living area Usable. . Look Closely at one of the pics showing the TV and the wall Just behind the Dinette . . Then look at another one where you see the Beds in the rear without the wall... Thats Right, there are 2 piano hinged wall sections to open up the trailer big time. . 16 Speakers, Big sound, good cabinets, 2 Gas tanks, 5500 watt gen, electric Awning, Washer/Dryer Prep, extra long Cargo door for easier load angle. . Eric,

Everytime my wife and I look at toy haulers we just get all excited for folks that have children and the family likes to get away and play at the sport they enjoy. Whoever invented the toy hauler sure did a good thing. When we stayed in Moab, UT we loved to see all the family groups crank up on there atvs of all types and stay gone all day in the desert. That type of getting away is not for us but we love to be around it. We are planning another out west trip in 2 years and will visit UT again. :-laf That RV will take an x-duty truck to pull it.

That trailer would enable lots of fun for young families with kids and off road vehicles but it's a mild weather trailer. It would require three roof AC units to cool and at least two furnaces to heat.

When you add the price of a MDT or retired OTR tractor to pull with it gets pretty expensive.

Don't worry, my jacked up GMC 2500 with 20" rims will pull that thing, no problem!:-laf

My Ferd 6. 0 is so powerful it will spin the rear tires all the way to 40mph pulling my 22k Toybox and still gets 20 mpg.

(The first liar always loses)

This trailer is only 3 feet longer than mine and I have 2 roof A/C. I use both of them on low with the generator and it works fine. . the new trailers have pretty good insulation and the trailer can be ordered with Dual Pane Windows. . .

You price used class 8's lately? There are some sweet units out there to be had for less then 1/2 the price of a new 1 ton.

MMeier,

Yes, I know. I read about (and lust for) MDTs and retired OTR HDTs on the Escapees Forum all the time. I sent in my fee for the Escapee's HDT Rally to be held in Hutchinson, KS the first week of October but it looks like I won't be able to go.

I've been waiting for more than a month for a fencer to come build a ranch/farm fence around my little place in the country. I talked with him again late yesterday and learned he won't make it over to my place until sometime next week. I guess I'll be forced to stay home and forfeit my advance payment for the rally. I was looking forward to seminars, group discussions, tours, perhaps even a ride in an HDT but I guess I won't make it. It's probably better to avoid the temptation anyway.

You're right, a decent retired HDT with around 500-600k miles can be purchased for considerably less than a new Ram dually and owners claim the Volvos ride and drive better, not to mention tow better, than our Rams. I'd love to own one but everytime I let my enthusiasm get out of hand I consult with my advisor, Bill Stockard. Bill sold IH products and served as sales manager for twenty-five years. He's forgotten more about big trucks than I'll ever learn. Bill reminds me of the expense of minor repairs on a big truck and resets my attitude. A little like becoming attracted to a woman then remembering you're married.

If I was a full time RVer I would definitely own a MDT or retired HDT but don't plan to ever hit the road full time.

Before I bought my 07. 5 I had a freightliner m2 with a trick bed for cheap but my insurance agent said I better be ready as they would insure it as an ovr the road truck as the vin would give it away. The 3500 is bad so I figured the m would be ridiculous.
