Looking for reasons not to go with SS. Aside from $$, seems like it would last longer than the aluminum. Weight really shouldn't matter either. Just curious. Thanks.
I don't know how bad things rust out there in the Aloha (sp?) state.
IMO, stainless is for looks only. I think the aluminized steel will last a very long time on a diesel/ especially if you don't live in a snow/salt state. The exhaust gasses in the pipes are cooler and the nice coating of soot inside the pipes acts as a rust protectant from the inside out.
Here in Michigan there is usually more salt on the road than snow, and I expect the alumanized pipe to last a long time. Even if it doesn't last forever, I can buy 2, maybe three depending on the exhaust, alumanized exhaust for the price of one stainless.
A fully polished stainless exhaust sure does look cool though
