My exhaust just broke, rear flange of the muffler. So, how loud would this truck be if I removed the muffler and put in a straight chunk of pipe?

This is the cheapest solution I can think of as I cannot afford to really fix it now.

Thanks in advance!

Mine just broke in the same spot, I called olee Poole and ordered a 4" exhaust. I was hoping it would be here today, but no brown truck showed. Monday Oo.

They sound good with a 4" exhaust, but the turbo gets really loud between shifts. If you like the sound of a big rig screaming in your ear... . Go for it. I never tried a stock exhaust, but I'd bet that they sound close to the same.

the 2000 had the same issue, i replaced the oem from the resonator back with the genos kit, well it finally gave in to rust, well i found a muffler shop that carried big enough pipe had it 4" all the way back from the resonator, dad says its to loud i told him he would get used to it lol, he has eventually. . The 92 has that coming, well the removal of the muffler anyways and can't wait, next tuesday the 28th i will have had her for one year and couldn't be happier, she needs a paint job and a few fixes here and their but there just isn't any satisfaction of knowing its paid for and you have something that can pull, haul, and cruise anywhere you want. And as for mods, nope im just one that believes in stock, at 160hp she has all i need under the hood(its not how fast you move mountains but how much at one time)... .

Thanks. . I was hoping a straight chuck of pipe would do it, looks like it is offset.

What kind of problems will I have just leaving the exhaust terminating at the

muffler? I really can't afford a hundo for that pipe from genos.

I have been running mine for years now with the muffler cut off and a straight piece welded into place and out through the stock tail pipe. Sounds good and gets plenty of comments on how good it sounds especially when towing the TT. Could not tell where you are but any decent shop can weld in the pipe. I believe that I paid about $60 to have the muff cut off. Another thing that I like was that I was able to have the tip positioned where I wanted which was just a bit higher thatn the factory location. Oh, and yes I did leave the resonator in place and have no drone.

STRAIGHT PIPED!! No resonator, no muffler. I LOVE the sound so it makes sense for me. It looks like a piece of fence post tubing all the way from the turbo back.

Try it, You might enjoy your engine even more! :)

It won't hurt a thing to have the pipe end at the muffler. Maybe a little of soot here and there if you leave it long enough.

I can also imagine there would be some more heat coming from below also if you are in idle for a while.
