I plan on goin to the dealer tomorrow about the fast idle TSB my truck has 4600 miles on it now are there any other TSB's I should be aware of?? Also what is the best exhaust system to run? I will definately go with 4" from turbo back. A friend of mine with a Powerchoke just put on a 5" hypermax system that is all stainless and pretty sweet looking althought the down pipe was only 3. 5" Does anyone make a 5" for our trucks? Is it really necessary? I have considered stacks and someone today said it would fry the turbo because the stacks let it spin too qucikly. Any truth to this? Thanks for all your help. Oh yeah my silencer ring fell out the other day and the snorkel also fell out. I found them in my garage late :)

Who ever told you about the stacks "burning" up the turbo needs their mouth taped shut:p The stacks look and sound AWSOME IMO. As for the down pipe 4" is big enough, and there are some members runnin 5" from the down pipe back. I can't help you with the TSB's, but I am sure someone else can.

Silencer ring fell out hah, I hate when that happens:rolleyes: :D It sounds much better with it gone right.

Big,

I did not catch you model year but there are numerous TSBs out there. I have a 2001 that is about to have its' 2nd and 3rd TSB done. You can find a listing of TSB in TDR #34 as they are all listed there. The saddening thing about the TSBs is that the dealer won't do a TSB simply because you want it done. You have to have a problem that needs correcting in order for them to do the TSB. The only exception to this rule is the TSB for the fast idle. Dodge realizes that if they don't eat the cost of the reflash (ie fast idle reflash of ECM) that they might very well have to pay for a new engine. It is to their advantage to do this TSB. I am taking my truck in to have the reflash done and to have my Dana 80 front seal replaced. I had a noise in the A-pillar passenger side repaired earlier.

I haven't any news or thoughts on your exhaust questions.

Hope I was somewhat helpful.

big... ... you asked several questions. i don't know if there is a 5" downpipe out there, there may be. i can tell you that the 4" is pretty tight between the bell housing and the frame, so i'd wonder about a 5". i put a 4" turbo to tail on mine, and love it. i doubt that it added any performance--may allow the turbo to spool up faster, and cool quicker for shut down. sure sounds good, and if you like the sound of the turbo, can sure hear it out the tailpipe with a straight thru truck muffler.

OK where do I find these TSB's where is TDR #34? The TSB page is under construction till June..... ARGH!!! Thanks for everyone's help. I am getting scared reading about the lifter pumps and clutches.

TSB's

When your dealer flashes your ecm for the fast idle, the ecm MUST be completely up to date as far as TSB's go. They cannot flash for fast idle without updating the ecm to current specs.

Please let us know how the fast idle flash works.
