Exhaust Band Clamp

Where is a good source for 4" band clamps? I purchased the last set from Napa and they were okay, but I think I can find heavier duty for about the same $$.

local big rig shop... i've got one local to me and the SS-lap type for 5" are like $17cdn and 4" is like $13cdn... aluminumized is like $3-$4 less each

Thanks for the tip. I am out in the sticks, none of the big rig shops do exhaust. It would be an hour round trip to the city, so I am thinking online with a good reference.



Any opinions on pre-formed or flat???

I would go with preformed "stepped" band clamps. They're easier to install and they fit better.



Diesel Manor has them for under $10, but they aren't stepped or preformed. Probably have to go to a big truck shop to get the nice ones.

Contact Berubes. www.berubes.com They're a big rig shop in New Hampshire. Very nice people to deal with. The 4" stainless preformed clamps are $10. 80, aluminized preformed clamps are $9. 30, and the flat stainless clamps are $7. 90 all plus shipping.

On a side note, I have a whole box of 3" stainless bands if anyone needs any. A shipping snafu from another company, ordered 1 clamp they sent 1 box and they didnt want to pay shipping to send them back so they said keep em... LOL

I keep finding what looks like the same type that I originally purchased. I have one here that has the nuts built into the clamp. It seems to be heavier duty than the type with standard bolts/nuts. My original clamps were the type with loose nuts, they had to be tightened to an unbelievable amount of torque before they started holding good. Are there variations to this type?

try looking for "fleetrite" brand or "torqtite" brand... they have the bolt pressed into the clamp like a stud [it can still turn though] and nuts that get tightened on the crimp plate



the fleetrite and torqtite clamps are setup like this one[this is just an example pic i have, this is a 3" butt clamp. you can get 4" and 5" butt and lap clamps]
