The rear most exhaust bolt is missing. I have a pacbrake. Could this cause a warranty issue even though Dodge sells exhaust brake? I am going to take the truck to the dealer for the TSB Exhaust Bolts and would like to know what I'm in for. Thanks.

All the 24V's prior to late 2001 have this problem. It has nothing to do with the Exhaust brake. I own a shop and almost 50% of the early 24V's are missing atleast one bolt.

Just get new ones from Dodge or Cummins and then get the web Kit from Dodge. It goes on over the bolts easy using a deep socket and a small hammer. Then no more troubles.

It should be a Dealer Warranty repair if you want them to work on your truck. Me I would just fix it my self. Kwik and easy!! :D

Found loose upper lower bolts on #6 on mine. Took it to dodge, that TSB is covered under the 5/1000 engine warranty. Of course they wouldn't tell you unless you ask. They put the straps on the upper bolts of 1 and 2, 5 and 6.

"They put the straps on the upper bolts of 1 and 2, 5 and 6. "

What about the lower bolts? TSB 09-002-01 puts the straps on upper and lower exhaust manifold bolt heads of the two front and two rear cylinders.

I read in Trailer LIfe not long ago about this. When I get time I need to have mine fixed with this. If I remember right it was trucks with an exhaust brake that was doing this. :(

Exhaust brakes?

From the TSB: "Vehicles that are used for extended heavy trailer hauling purposes may experience a loss of exhaust manifold bolt torque. This condition may lead to exhaust gas blow-by past the exhaust manifold gasket(s) and even loss of exhaust manifold bolts. "

Shoveljunk,

Who was the mechanic that found that bolt out?;)

Did they check out your turbo for you while you were there?

What was the prognosis on that?

Did your noise go away with all of the bolts in the Manifold?

Well, I just wanted to throw in a line here about the benefits of our breakfast get togethers. Shoveljunk wasn't the only one that we found that morning with missing exhaust manifold bolts. And, on a previous get together we found a truck with a weak lift pump. As diligent as we all are, it is always a good idea to be standing around shootin' the breeze and having others look over your rig.

With that said, those of you who have been thinking about coming down and joining us, just do it! Heck, you never know, we might save you a big shop bill or something.
