my new truck is in, 07. 5 std cab 4x4. didnt pick it up yet though, in a dispute over trade in. i have a 06 std cab with 3400 miles they only want to give me 22,000. sorry for getting off the subject, anyway drove the new truck its pretty nice. ive had five ctd but no exhaust brake, when i was letting truck warm up i pushed the brake button and could hear it while in park then took off with brake button on and could hear it. when coming up to a stop light it did a nice job slowing me down but when completly stopped could still hear brake, then when took off could not hear it. then turned it off and when letting off the trottle coming up to a light thr truck slowed right down as if brake was on but it wasnt. does the new motor automatically brake like that? with the exaust brake off. also when i got back to dealer and put it in park, then pushed button i could not hear it like i could when letting . it warm up earlier. does this all sound normal would like to know before i take delivery thanks

Here's my take on the new trans/exhaust brake. The exhaust brake upon initial start up will come on and aid warm up. When warmed up however, it will not turn on while idling. The trans will stay locked up while downshifting to a start, a real pleasant surprise. Torque convertor is real nice with these units, locks up early and stays locked. If it holds up will turn around alot of the guys needing the feed back of the manual looking at this new combination. So far so good, BTW, the tow haul mode with the brake works great, trans downshifts with the brake in every gear.

I can agree and confirm both of the above comments. Mine works just as described. It's a very nice working unit. The truck has fewer than 500 miles on it , I have put over 2000 miles on my '01 since the '07 has been in the yard. Next week I'll put some miles on the '07.

Same here, as posted above. There is no delay between letting off the throttle and exhaust brake engagement. I find the brake much more effective than the Pacbrake I had on my 2000.

This new 6 speed auto is a great setup. Around town it keeps the rpm very low and stays locked up. Much different than Ford's torqshift which always seem to keep the engine at 2000 rpm under light load.
