The other day I seen a question about a way to disable the exhaust brake when you push in the clutch, so I thought I would find the parts to do just that. I went to the local truck dealer, talked to the parts man, he came back with a micro switch that had a spring on the button and a bracket, I get home and mount the bracket to the metal frame under the dash, cut the wire that came from the foot pedal to hook them in series, this works great, now if I push in the clutch at a stop light the brake stays off, when you let the clutch out, if your foot is off the foot pedal the brake works, if your foot is on the foot pedal, the brake stays off, this way you can leave the master switch on most of the time, it now works like the BIG RIGS.

clutch switch

I put a clutch switch on mine when I installed the Pac Brake on my 99 in Nov. of 98. Drove truck for 25 yrs. & all of them had the clutch switch for the Jake brake so I figured I would be losy without it. Have put the switch on 4 or 5 other trucks after they drove mine.

Gear shift switch

That is what the gear shift mounted switch is for. Beside being able to turn the e-brake on and off while coming to a stop, you can turn it off while stopped and have the clutch out. Also you can turn the e-brake on and off while stopped and the guy next to you has no idea what you are doing. It also is fun when people ask "Hey, what that swicth for... ?" I would like to see the new Jacobs e-brake switch. Anyone got a photo yet?
