why is it i can find a exhaust brake for a 98. 5 to 02,but not a 94 with a 5-speed?whats the difference if i have a stick?i dont need to hack into the commputer,or do i?pac brake has one at tst but its confusing as to what fits,it says the auto and sticks are the same how can this be?i would like a inline one. i mean in the pipe after the turbo pipe. anyone know of a company that has one?also does it come with a compresser?or does it acctivate?thanks very much. i nedd one bad my brakes suck. thanks

The 98. 5 -02 is a 24 valve engine and the brake kit is different for a 12 valve. Your engine requires the exhaust valve springs to be changed ( the 24valve doesn't )and the fuel pump is totally different for the switch. The Cummins ( Jacobs ) part number for your truck is 3804848. It fits 89-98. Some " other " brands say 'auto and std' because although the brake is the same, the difference is how much abuse the trans will take. Some people don't change the valve springs either. The brake is hard on an unmodified auto thats why DC didn't want it done. Shadrach

I can only speak of Pac Brake as that's what I have installed. When I was considering installing the brake, I spoke with a couple of different techs at PacBrake. The automatic trans brake has a different size relief hole in the butterfly than the manual trans brake. Other than that there is no difference. The relief hole according to PacBrake, can be plugged IF you install the 60lb exhaust valve springs giving full braking capacity.

With stock springs, (35lb) PacBrake says you can safely tow up to 11,000lbs but beyond that, they recommend the 60lb springs and getting full retardation from the brake.

A phone call to PacBrake (if that is one you're interested in) will answer all your questions.

I'm very happy with the brake and my stock springs.

I have a Pac brake for a 98 12 valve if you're interested. It's for an automatic. As I had the #60 exhaust springs I had the hole closed off also.
