Who has or had an Exhaust brake on a 2003 HO 6 speed. Dodge shows a dealer installed option for vehicles with the manual transmission. Just wondering if anyone here can say yeah or neah. Otherwise I will steer my attention towards a banks set up.

I sell PacBrake... but I"ve always suggested that you look at the web sights... .

I like to offer what we sell but I feel that only PacBrake and Jacobs have the real key to the answer... you can get either a Pac or jacobs on the larger engines as an engine brake from the factory... that means they have to talk... .

Also both brands are made in house with inhouse engineering and manufacturing... both have acess to full engine dynos and world acceptance of their products.....

And I'll forgive you for riding a BMW... ... smiles here ... from a long time goldwing rider... but I'd give you this..... If I rode alone 80% of the time I'd own a BMW... but I ride 2 up... and I personally thing the wing is better for that.....

Just my thoughts... .

That's alright, I forgive you!!! I won't tell you the nickname for goldwings around these parts :-laf

I have had the PacBrake on my 2004 6 speed for almost 2 years now and it works great. I have had no problems and it works great at slowing me down while towing my 11,550# horse trailer here in the Sierra's. Bought it from Jelag.

I have a jacobs brake on my 03 w/ 6 speed. I ordered it when I took delivery and took my ***aler to the cleaners because they didn't know they were different for the 3 rd gen trucks vs. 02 and earlier! :-laf Yes, they tried to shake my pockets for the difference in price, but i prevailed !! :p

I had the dealer install a Jake Exhaust brake before delivery of my 03/HO/6 speed. Never had a problem with it and its armed most of the time.

I have a Jacobs EB on my '03 2500 6 speed. There a great option for towing my 11200 lb 5er or runnin' empty. With 55000 miles on the truck the front rotors are just gettin' broke in good. I would have it if I didn't tow.

As MMeier says the dealer tried to get out of the deal, the brake was 395. 00 dollars through the bussinesslink program at time of truck purchase, when Jacobs changed the design for the '03s. Stayed after them and even had the salesman and his mgr. going to bat for me. The dealer got their money though as it was a Dodge program.

I've had a "JACOBS" brake on mine since the truck was 2 Months old. . I too got the brake from Dodge thru the Business program offered by Dodge at time of purchase. I only paid $299. 00 for it, but had to wait until the design change was made for the 03' model.

The brake is "AWSOME"! HAd a BD on the previous 94' Dodge, but the Jacobs in my opinion is better.

I have a PacBrake on my 03 HO. Got a great deal from Jelag. I put one for a 04. 5 on mine with a 4" outlet, now I have a full 4" system with a MBRP muffler. Works great!

The 94-98 trucks didn't seem to react as well to an exhaust brake as the newer ones.

I had a Jacobs on my 03 and it was a nice install, but if I had to do it over again I would go with the PacBrake PRXB. The vacuum pump for my Jacobs went south after about 46K miles. Gotta love Pac. They are even sending their kits out with an airtank! Talk about a company that has it goin on!

I went with Pacbrake. I dont like the idea of an auxillary vacum pump running all the time like the Jakobs. There have been quite a few lock up and sometimes catch on fire. The only time my pump works on my brake is when I hit the switch.

What's wrong with a vacuum pump running all the time? ALL the trucks prior to 2003 had vacuum pumps that ran ALL the time!

For one You have to then run a non standard serp. belt, Also I know that the earlier trucks had vacum pumps spinning all the time but there have been numerous cases of the Jacobs VP's locking up and sometimes catching on fire! Something running all the time when your not using it is poinless in my book, just wearing it out that much faster and it just takes some HP and extra fuel to pull it.

I know I have an auto BUT, just had my 1st issue with the Pac. It stopped working @44k miles with LITTLE use. Ended up costing $100 bucks to replace an air actuator switch.
