It won't work on a stock trans because when you lift the torque convertor clutch will unlock after a few seconds. Then the engine drops close to idle. Not much retarding power when the torque convertor is free wheeling at idle. The solution is to provide a means of holding the TCC lock at idle throttle position. The best way is with an after market TCC controller. Your transmission needs some valve body mods to help because the stock pressures are too low to cause the TCC to hold well. A stock trans will work ok with a means to hold the TCC locked if it is not abused with something like a long downhill with 10,000 lbs of trailer. One problem is that if something breaks the transmission warrantee is most probably void.
