Hitchiker 5'er Quality?

Trailer lighting additions- How?

I just ordered a PacBrake and while talking to a tech at PacBrake was told by him that it is OK to down shift into 2nd gear (on the automatic) to keep the rpms up while slowly going down steep grades.

Joe G. and I both feel that it will cause higher temps that could possibly damage the trans.

I have spent alot of $$ on transmission upgrades and can't justify throwing it all away and starting over with a set up that locks up the TC in second gear yet, although I do plan to some day.

So the question is how many of you use your brakes in second gear to go down those scarry grades? I'd sure feel better knowing it is OK for occasional use.

Thanks, RogerLed

I have that capability but do not do it. If i am in second I have adequate hold back in 2nd or low w/ just trans to control speed grossing about 17k with the DTT tc.

what transmission up grades do you have ????

I have a BD valve body, Presure lock, Sun Coast low stall TC and a home made TC lock up/out switch mounted in a dash pod with gauges.

Bill K. was still working at BD when I put in the valve body, had some problems with the limp mode and Bill spent alot of time making everything work right.

So what kind of temps do you see going down in 2nd or low? I imagine if you are paying attention you can avoid over heating. But what do you do if the temps jump up? You would not want to continue so either pull over or shift back up and hang on using your service brakes. THAT IS WHAT I WANT TO AVOID!
