Is the exhaust brake function ambient temperature sensitive at warm up? It has been warm lately in the morning- above 60- and when I push the button on start-up there is no reaction. The exhaust brake kicks in once I drive and need to slow down. These things should be explained in the owners manual. Without TDR I'd be spending a fortune at the dealer!

Yes the exhaust brake activation in the morning during warm-up is temp sensitive. Don't think its ambient though, I believe its coolant temp sensitive. Maybe someone else can give the specifics.

Mine stops coming on some time in spring not to return until fall when overnight temps start to drop.

Block temp.

You can override this at any time at idle. I do it all the time on cold and cool mornings when the exhaust brake will not engage by its self, since I have the block plugged in overnight. The block heater is plugged in from Nov 1 until March 31 on a timer to warm up the coolant for easier starting.

The way you over ride this is to engage the high idle feature (you may know this already) when the truck is in parked engine running. Than engage the exhaust brake, the brake will help to warm up the engine quicker. I idle no more than five min's, this is usually the time it takes to get out of the cab fold out the mirrors and pick-up the morning paper in the driveway and put the paper in the house.

Is anyone aware of all the parameters that must be met for the brake to come on? I am still getting nowhere with mine. Rebuilt turbo, recalibrated actuator, dealer says it is in the right place, no check engine lights no dtc's, no wierd noise, no lack of power, just no exhaust brake. I am wondering if it is an ecm issue with the flash version?

The exhaust brake feature can also be used to reduce the
engine warm up time. To use the exhaust brake as a
warm-up device, the vehicle must be moving less than 5
mph (8 km/h), the exhaust brake switch must be in the
ON position, and the coolant temperature must below
180°F (82°C) and ambient temperature below 60°F (16°C).

Send me the last 8 of your vin,I can check to see if it is equipped with e brake

it worked before the turbo went out and i had to replace. it stopped working just prior to the turbo going out and then got the p2262 code. it had been cleaned before i owned it. i cleaned it and the brake still did not work and i still got the p2262. so decided to replace the turbo rather than taking to dealer. after i replaced the turbo i callibrated it and took it to the dealer too make sure it was right and they said it was. DPF gone, egr gone, H&S XRT Pro. No CELS or codes and still no brake. I have checked the fuses nothing. I am lost. Frustrating because no one has a clue and they keep pointing fingers at the otherguy.
